2 weeks until Recital Reminders and info!

Thea's Dance Academy

Happy Wednesday Dance Family,

As you know, the big day is just around the corner and we are super excited to show off what your kids have learned this year! The Recital is going to be great, but we need your help to ensure the shows are a success. The only way we can ensure everyone is on the same page is if each parent makes it a priority to read these emails carefully. I know we are all busy, but I promise it will only take 5 minutes and it will be worth it:)

Before we get into the good stuff, Please remember that Class attendance is required in order to ensure that all dancers are ready for recital and all students must be in class these next two weeks unless otherwise discussed. Please help us by making sure your child is on time and in attendance to all of his/her classes. If your student misses class close to the recital, they may be required to schedule a private lesson to make up missed material at the expense of the parent.

Rehearsal week at the Studio:

The week of May 17th-20th is when your dancers will be having rehearsals at the studio instead of their normal classes. The schedule is slightly different during this week so be sure to view the schedule via the Recital information page of our website. Just find the class that your dancer is enrolled in and make sure they are at the studio ready to dance.

Dress Rehearsals at Grouse Room:

Dress Rehearsal is Saturday, May 22nd at the Grouse Room! Please see the recital information page on our website for your dancers' arrival time if you have forgotten.

Awards:

Awards will be given out at Recital at the end of each Show. Students may wear whatever they choose for this ceremony and most students simply wear their last costume of the show. Students that are in Awards will need to arrive backstage at least 3 numbers before the end of their show. Students in multiple shows will be given their awards at the main show that all of their dances are in. Please see the very end of this email for a list of all students who will be receiving Awards at the Recital!

Lineups for each show:

Please see the attachment for the order in which your dancers will be performing their routines. A copy of these lineups is also printed in your recital programs. Dancers need to be backstage ready to go 5 numbers before each of their dances. * We will have a designated quick change area for those who have very little time between dances.

Day of Recital:

Students need to arrive backstage 1 hour prior to show time. Students will need to be dressed in full hair and makeup wearing their 1st costume. If dancers leave the backstage area at any time to join family, they just need to return backstage dressed and ready for their next routine at least 5 numbers prior to their dance.

Just a few general reminders:

-The only events happening at the Grouse Room are the Dress Rehearsal and the Recital itself. All other rehearsals are at the studio.

Packing for the big day:

The recital is not a one-day activity. In advance, gather all costumes, accessories, shoes, and make-up as well as schedule helpers to bring your students to their rehearsals if needed. A checklist helps to make sure that you have all supplies before the big day. Students should have an extra pair of tights, hair gel, hairnets, bobby pins, hairspray, and make-up. Other handy extras include:

1-2 Weeks before the recital, start working through this checklist so that you are prepared and to reduce your stress come the day of the show.
